Your DIЯTY ЯUSSIAИ Model

Postby Vinny » Sat Dec 01, 2012 7:02 pm

Well fellas, with two weeks to the start of the Dirty Russian build, what is everyone thinking of building?

I went through the stash of kits and decals and found that I had quite a bit of Russian gear. I've a lot of Russian civil and transporters in 144 but I wanted to do something a little different to what I normally tackle. And give myself a challenge at the same time. My initial thinking was to do a Mig-29 in 1:48 and in the stash I have decals and kits for two types...

A Hungarian Mig-29B in special scheme marking the 70 years anniversary of hungarian air force.

Or a special scheme Slovak Air Force Mig-29AS

Great looking aircraft but one problem....... too clean!! [smilie=wall.gif]

So I decided to go with an AN-12 of the Russian Airforce. Blue 33 with a nice shark mouth! It should make for a nice looking model. This will be in 1:72 scale so she's a big bird!

I haven't even started yet and already I think I've taken on too much! 8oS

Yup! They're produced by HAD Decals. I picked them up exactly one year ago in Amsterdam. Couldn't resist that scheme. :P

Spud, that wrecked AN-12 is excellent! Some job to do that in a model.

Marty the La7 with a white wash would be epic.

George i get my aftermarket stuff from http://www.armour-models.co.uk/ they just started doing et model stuff but i haven't seen the set i want so ill have to get that from LM in japan or Ebay.

ive not seen any upgrade set for the Type 69 but i will ask someone that will know, as for the tracks you are welcome to the ones that come with the T62 they are the same track used on the T55 and that what you are building its just modified for the Chinese army, they are ini tracks so you have to build them [smilie=rofl.gif]

Build them both dude! You've got plenty of time ;) But if I had to choose I'd say go with the La-7.

Spud, that etched upgrade set looks awesome! That's some serious amount of metal there. :P You'll be kept busy with all that bending and folding. The resin engine will be a stand out feature too. Can't wait to see it all come together.
