Tamiya kit, these metal finishes are nerve wracking stuff. Eduard interior, which I forgot to take photos of.

Oh that's fab work.

I always hate masking the metal as you always get a residue from the tape. Top work. Can't wait to see more progress. [smilie=pdt_popc1.gif]

Absolutely gorgeous! What a beauty you've created there Owen [smilie=first.gif]

The NMF looks fantastic. Did you use the AK Xtreme Metal?

Brilliant modelling as always.

Thanks lads,....yes, AK xtreme metal paint. It's very forgiving and easy to use and it sticks very well to bare plastic, thing is they don't look as good as Alclads, but they do make a very good undercoat for Alclads which is what I kind of did here, base coat is AK white aluminium, with about half the airframe masked out and painted with Alclad aluminium and some panels painted dark aluminium. I doubt you'll see any of these in the flesh Stephen, as I sell them as soon as they're finished, this Mustang is the only model I have right now.
Cheers,
Owen

Thanks for filling us in on how you painted her. Kind of weird though using them as a base coat, I can't figure that one :) Did the paint have a residue left on when you masked the sections or is it a little better than alclad in that respect?

Looks brilliant. I have a tam p51 1/32 and that is one of the looks I might seek to achieve. [smilie=first.gif]

I've struggled with BMF's for years now and this is what I've learned, the undercoat really needs to stick to the plastic and the metal paint really need to stick to the undercoat or else masking is a nightmare, so AK Extreme metal are the perfect undercoat, no masking problems at all. Maybe it's pointless to then cover them with Alclads, but Alclads do look better.
Cheers,
Owen
