Tamiya King Tiger

Postby Spud » Fri May 19, 2017 1:03 am

This is my First King Tiger, Picked this one up from Paul Walsh in Dublin last year for about €20 cant go wrong there.

So teh MiniArt Refuller is on hold because its a ****** of a Kit and its a mojo killer So to boost mojo i went for Tamiya to rescue the Day :)

Now it will most likely be knocked Out as that is the way im building it.

ive used mainly Dragon tools as there better detailed and ive added part of the ET.Model tool clamps to them. the texture is a mix of Tamiya Putty with humbrol glue and just dabbed on to the surface and let dry over night and then given a light sanding the next day,

Details on the left side is depicting the tow cable removed, Ive also added the cable to the light on the front. I have also rescribed the plasma Cut to give it some detail,

I need to add more Weld beads in places finish the right side details and the lower half is done, :)

can't go wrong with a Tiger II! Looks good so far mate, nice bit of extra works! Don't forget to place the L-shaped piece for the commanders' vane sight in front of the cupola ^^

Always love a Tiger build Spud, and a wrecked one is even more welcome, i like the texture on the rolled steel one to watch [smilie=pdt_popc1.gif] for armor fans

thanks guys.

So painted it Twice yesterday i was not happy with the first cammo. So dug out my 1945 cammo book and put on a better cammo. the brown i had on the first version was the one i should have used but i cba redoing it again So it is what it is, going to assemble the tracks once i have all the chipping and pin wash on.

Ive changed my mine about the brunt out version. it will be just Broken down at the side of the road like this one,

What painted and all already? You must have had a blast :D Looks good. Just a question: what's with the masked areas on the turret?

that's where the tracks were, It was on the 1945 book i have on one of the Kt and taught it looked cool So added it
Dunno how it will look once done but its an easy thing to go over.

Im thinking either a Takom/Meng/Ammo KT will be my next one to see how that is
