What ref books do you use?

Here's a good place to share websites, books, apps and so on, that provide useful information for modellers.

What ref books do you use?

Postby Lego » Thu Dec 13, 2012 10:19 am

I am looking for some pointers on reference material for:-

Military vehicles of the second world war and military aircraft for the same period. There seems to be so much out there that I'm finding it hard to pick anything. I would be eternally grateful for any recommendations. I am heading into chapters parnell street to have a pokey around in their military section.

I have been gawking around on amazon and nearly all the books have someone saying that the info contained in each book is inaccurate or there are huge ommissions. Are there names of people who are renowned for knowledge in these areas that I should watch for when I'm looking around?

Again many thanks.

+1 for [smilie=google.gif]

I find I use that before I attempt to look through any book. Books are last resort to me these days as the internet has changed how easy it is to get some reference material.

Having said that, the Squadron and Verlinden books are very good.

Got to agree with you there Peter , and you can put a book down instead o trawling through the net for hours and wasting good modeling time [smilie=hypnotised.gif]

I think I might start with an encyclopedia of military aircraft and one for vehicles. See whats out there and then delve further into a couple of chosen subjects. See what interests me.

I prefer books over the internet. Old habits die hard I guess.

Thank you for the replies.
