Paint stripping with disinfectant.

Postby arni » Tue Oct 31, 2017 3:43 pm

I first heard of this on a diff forum and at first thought it was a joke! but thought what have I got to lose ( about £3..)

But it does work and is handy if you cant stand the 'feel' of brake fluid - like me....

Not sure why it works so here are the ingredients.

be interested to know how you get on, cos it would be cheaper and safer than brake fluid

I found Dettol slow but eventually does the job, on the other hand I found brake very quick 3/4 of an hour and very little scrubbing.

I've been using Dettol for years now Arni for paint stripping. It works alright but it can be slow.It does a good job cleaning brushes as well.Never tried the brake fluid & will give it a skip. One thing to keep an eye on though when using Dettol - don't use it on parts with Mr. Surfacer. It softens it,goes out of shape & stays soft for months.

Gonna have to give the Dettol method of stripping a go in the near future.
Any more people have positive reviews about it's results?
